The Pauses – “Hands Up”

 

For an indie pop band, The Pauses display a great deal of patience.  Their songs maintain a slow place, using a mix of orchestral rock and electronic pop into a sound that is truly unique.  The Orlando-based outfit uses beats including dance, hard rock and even dubstep, moving from feelings of comfortable elegance to dissonant angst often in the same track.  The Pauses are touring behind their debut album, A Cautionary Tale, released early last year.  Since their sound ranges so much, they are a tough band to write up, but the bottom line is The Pauses are a killer rock band with an experimental approach, like prog rock without any of the metal-tinged attitude.  For anyone looking to explore all sorts of different corners of the indie rock field, be sure to check out The Pauses.
